Penguins Power Outage!

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- While the Penguins do have a record of 20 games over .500 (45-25-8), I have some reasons that fans should be concerned as they approach the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Lack of offense was the main reason the Penguins didn't leave Tampa Bay last night with two points. The 2-1 loss could be costly because the Flyers also lost, 1-0 to Atlanta.

Looking at the big picture, regardless of who the Pens play in the first round of the playoffs, they'll need to score goals to advance. If the month of March is any indication of that, the team's stay in the playoffs could be a short one.

Here's some reasons to worry if you're a Penguins fan:

*In the month of March (14 games), the Penguins scored just 30 goals and 10 of those came in two games versus Ottawa and Edmonton.

*Since Feb. 4, the Pens have won just three games in regulation out of 25.

*The team has scored just eight goals in their last five games.

*They haven't won a regulation game since March 15. Remember, no shootouts in the playoffs.

*The power play which was 0-5 last night, is three for the last 64.
