Predictions For 2011 Pirates Season

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- As the Pirates officially start this afternoon, I figured I'd throw out 19 predictions for the Bucs 2011 season.

I came up with 19 predictions because of what will be 19 consecutive losing seasons.

Here goes:

1. Andrew McCutchen will be a 20/20 player this season.

2. The Pirates will have multiple All-Stars (McCutchen/Pedro Alvarez).

3. Ryan Doumit will be Public Enemy No. 1 of Pirate fans this season.

4. Paul Maholm and Ross Ohlendorf won't be in the rotation by the end of July.

5. Kevin Correia will lead the team in wins (13).

6. Rotation in August will be: James McDonald, Correia, Bryan Morris, Brad Lincoln and Charlie Morton.

7. The Pirates offense will put them in position to win plenty of games.

8. Lyle Overbay will hit a career-high 25 HR's.

9. Garrett Jones won't finish the season as a Pirate.

10. The lack of depth in the bullpen (6th & 7th innings) will be costly.

11. Jose Tabata will be an impact player in the National League.

12. Pirates Top 3 HR Hitters: 1) Alvarez 2) Overbay 3) Walker

13. Tony Sanchez will make his Pirates debut this season.

14. The Pirates will sign Andrew McCutchen to a contract extension.

15. Charlie Morton will finally live up to his potential.

16. The Pirates will draft UCLA pitcher Gerrit Cole instead of Rice 3B Anthony Rendon.

17. The Pirates won't finish last in the NL Central

18. The Pirates will win 70 games.

19. This will be the last season for Pirates GM Neal Huntington.
