PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A home was damaged and two people were treated for injuries following a fire early Sunday morning in Bloomfield.

The blaze broke out just before 5:20 a.m. in the 300-block of Ella Street. Crews were able to bring it under control around 7 a.m.

Officials say a firefighter suffered burns to his hands. According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh-Post-Gazette, he was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Another person was treated for smoke inhalation. Both are expected to be fine.

The Red Cross is helping three adults and three children following the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This is why our Firefighters and Police deserve good pay and benefits…they risk everything to protect us each and every day. Thanks from a grateful citizen for all of your hard work and sacrifice.

Maybe he is a good man doing his job, did you ever think of that

The news needs to let up on fireman and police, do we hear about persons doing the same that work at *hospitals*road crews* your insurance agent*your childs crossing guard*a clerk at walmart*the person processing your check at the bank… get real most crimes have no identity with people in positions, most are caused by lay back parents who “wants to be the friend”

  • Jim

Did he have his gloves on? Of course public saftey people put it on the line…some more than others. What about the other people? That person is right to ask…nurses, teachers, crossing gaurds. Of course the behavior of Pittsburgh Fire is questionable…on and off the job. They need all the good press they can get! As a tax payer in this city I’m very disappointed. Did the cop get his job back after being found innocent? Did they fire the FF who was arrested for domestic abuse? Again, where were his gloves?

    • Mike

Jim don’t judge the whole fire bureau because of the actions of the few . There are a lot of good fireman, policeman , and paramedics that get a bad rap because of a few people that show very dad judgement. Don’t throw stones from a glass house .

    • Jim is an idiot

hey Jim, before you start asking where is his gloves, have you ever been in a fire ever in you life as a firefighter putting it out? You can still get burns with your turnout gear on including gloves, Since you are too stupid to understand the concept of firefighting, when water is put onto a fire, it creates steam and steam burns are a high possibility especially if his gloves were damp from fighting the fire. So before you open your mouth again Jim, maybe try putting out a fire as a firefighter dumb@ss.

      • Jim

You are funhhy damb@ss…I work at many fires and guess what, never had my hands burned! Now as far as Mike, you are right and that actually is what I did mean. So to anyone in Pittsburgh Public Safety I’m sorry that is how that came across. Dunb@ss maybe you should finish FF 101 instead of shooting your mouth. You never put yourself in a comprimising situation, isn’t that why we have teams and extra equipment. Go back to your scanner in your parents basement. The one thing we all agree on is fighting fire is dangerous and the advancement from the like of NFPA assure pepole don’t get hurt…that’s why we have training and standards. I’m just asking, where we his gloves. And actually a better ? is was this blown out by the media because he went to get evvaluated for a minir injury or did he actuall recieve severe degree burns. And for the record regardless of where you live the public saftey menr and women don’t get compinsated enough for what we do,

I’m tired of hearing about how City of Pittsburgh police, fire and Public Works personnel should be paid more money for the job they applied for many of which 65% or more are nepotism jobs which supposedly does not exist in City of Pittsburgh job openings yet 65% of those department’s consist of relatives down through the years.
They all know where the gravy train starts being weaned from birth Police, Fire and don’t forget Public Works !
This city is a Joke, along with your Boy Wonder Mayor !
