Pirates Starter Paul Maholm Talks About Series Win Over Cubs

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Pirates Starting Pitcher Paul Maholm joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about their opening series victory over the Cubs and his expectations for this season.

Paul said it was great to see the team bounce back from their tough defeat Saturday and get the win on Sunday to take the series against the Cubs.

There has been a buzz around the city towards the Pirates and the way they won that series against the Cubs. Paul said that same buzz is in the clubhouse and was present after Neil Walker hit his grand slam on Friday and again when Walker scored the game-winning run on Sunday with some aggressive base running.

When it came to discussing this teams starting pitching, Paul acknowledged that there have been plenty of doubters and told us what he had to say to them.  One of the biggest questions in the rotation though is Charlie Morton, and Paul told us what is different in Charlie from last year and why it will make the difference in helping him get over the hump and take the next step in his career.

We wrapped things up with Paul discussing the bullpen's blown lead after his great start on Saturday and what it feels like for a starting pitcher to get a no-decision after having such a great outing.
