Coach Says Birch Staying With Pitt

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- It appears now that 5-star prospect Khem Birch will be playing for Jamie Dixon and Pitt next season.

A day after reports surfaced that Birch was wavering on coming to Pitt, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette talked with Birch's basketball coach.

Notre Dame Prep coach Ryan Hurd talked with the Fittipaldo and told him Birch is sticking with Pitt.

"Khem is going to Pittsburgh", Hurd said. "There is no need for alarm. Khem is an 18-year old kid. And disappointment is what it is. He was close to coach Skerry. But the reality is he signed with Pitt because of coach Dixon, and coach Dixon is still there."

Last night, things didn't look good for Pitt when Birch tweeted, "A lot of thinking to do. Very upset. When the going gets tough the tough get going. We'll see whats in store."

One other thing that Pitt fans should keep an eye on and that's Birch's eligibility. Rumors are still out that he's still not academically eligible to play this coming season.
