Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The promising rookie season of Dustin Jeffrey is officially over as it’s announced he’ll miss at least the next 6 months.

The Penguins have announced that surgery on Jeffrey’s knee revealed that he has a torn ACL.

According to head coach Dan Bylsma, Jeffrey will be sidelined for six months.

Tough break for Jeffrey, who finally showed that he can play in the NHL. In 25 games, he scored 7 goals, 5 assists and was a +5.

Jeffrey is a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

If we have made it this far without our top players Crosby and Malkin, I think we can manage making it to the second round without Jeffrey. We still have a lot of good players that are currently playing.
