Local Police Departments Probe 24 Burglaries

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police from 14 communities are investigating a rash of burglaries.

Investigators are comparing notes on two dozen home burglaries.

The burglaries have happened in places including Green Tree, Scott Township and Upper St. Clair.

The crimes have happened in the daytime. Thieves break in through a back door and usually take small items like cash and jewelry, though some larger electronics have been stolen as well.

In some instances, this may start with someone coming up to the front door and either knocking or ringing the bell. If no one answers, they know it is likely there's no one home.

Police want people to be on the lookout.

Although many of these burglaries happened in the South Hills, Tuesday's meeting included representatives from places such as Pittsburgh, McCandless and Robinson.
