BUTLER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — A man is in the hospital following a shooting Saturday evening at a Walmart parking lot in Butler County.

According to the Butler Township Police Department, the 21-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound while getting out of a vehicle.

Butler Township police say the man was shot in his lower back and was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh by medical helicopter where he underwent surgery. He continues to recover.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the incident happened around 7 p.m. in the Butler Commons shopping plaza.

Butler Township police continue the investigation.
