Woman Has Surgery Overnight After Knitting Needle Stabbing

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A woman needed emergency surgery overnight after police say she walked into UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after being stabbed with a knitting needle.

Authorities are not identifying the woman, but say she is 27-years-old.

According to Pittsburgh police, she walked into the emergency room and told a security guard that she had been stabbed before collapsing to the floor.

During her emergency surgery, authorities say doctors found another knitting needle in her body. She is in critical condition following the incident.

Police say the woman did not have any identification with her; however, she did have a CVS Pharmacy card with her keys. Officials were able to identify her through the card.

The investigation continues.
