New Book Talks Sex & The Bible

On Monday’s show, KDKA Radio’s Mike Pintek talked with Jennifer Wright Knust, the Author of “Unprotected Texts: The Bible’s Surprising Contradictions about Sex and Desire.”

“I don’t think we can look to the Bible to provide our contemporary sexual morals or our U.S. law regarding marriage,” Knust, who is also an assistant professor of religion at Boston University and a pastor of the American Baptist Church, said on the show.

“Since the Bible is so complex and so contradictory,” Knust added, “one could probably find a passage that supports whatever one’s point of view might be.”

In addition to discussing a wide range of controversial issues including Jesus’ sexual orientation and Mary Magdalene’s role in Jesus’ life, Knust also fielded calls from listeners who had their own Biblical questions.

This pastor does not have a clue what is going on. She really needs to come up for air I would like to know where she reads in the Bible where prostitution and same-sex marriage is is accepted. I am very blessed that I go to a Bible teaching church that doesn’t teach that garbage. There isn’t anywhere written in the Bible that mentions that Jesus had an affair with anybody. PLEASE! The Bible also teaches that women are not be leaders over men. I will definitely pray for her because she really is way off base. GOD BLESS her
