Officer Injured In Westmoreland County Crash

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) — A local police officer was injured in a crash while he was on patrol.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Route 780 in New Kensington. According to investigators, 22-year-old Jessica Blanford, the driver of the car that hit him, is suspected of drinking.

Lower Burrell Police Officer Ted Meixelsberger was headed to a 911 call at a bar when his SUV was hit head-on. Police say Blanford was coming from a bar when the crash happened. It’s not known if the officer was heading to the same bar.

“She was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where blood was drawn and pending results, charges will be filed,” State Police Corporal Michael Young said.

Blanford was listed in serious condition at last report. Meixelsberger was taken to the hospital, but is now back home with his family.

I would like to know how Jennifer Ruttinger got off her charges of DUI when her daughter died 1-month ago…Washington county DA did not file charges within thirty days, now they never can…How did that Happen?

just curious what that has to do with this case? .. anyway . i always worry about my husband going to work on 780 in the middle of the night with the drunks out there leaving the bars. why dont they hit these offenders with a little bit more punishment then maybe they will learn their lessons, this girl had a dui already and shes only 22 come on ! how many more innocent people have to get hurt or die?

but i do agree kevin.. i think they can still press charges for homicide by vehicle .. i mean they went after a guy out here for a speeding ticket 20 years later so why not be able to arrest for that little girls tragedy .
