Teenager Dead After Crash In North Strabane Twp.

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Washington County teenager is dead following an accident in a construction zone Tuesday night.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. along Route 19 at Lindley Road in North Strabane Township.

According to the Washington County Coroner's Office, the victim, 17-year-old Nathan Singo, of Washington, Pa., was pronounced dead just before 10:30 p.m. in the emergency room of Canonsburg Hospital. He died of blunt force trauma.

Authorities say Singo was a passenger in the Nissan sedan, which was heading northbound on Route 19 when it entered the construction zone.

The vehicle hit several traffic barrels and a construction sign, then crossed into the southbound lane, where is rolled several times before ending up on its side in the northbound lane at Lindley Road.

Officials say Singo was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The driver was also taken to Canonsburg Hospital. So far, there is no word on that person's condition.

The Coroner's Office reports that "excessive speed is believed to be a factor" in the crash.
