Police: Observatory Hill Suspect Apparently Shot Self

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A standoff in Observatory Hill was apparently over before it began.

The shot that prompted the SWAT Team to surround the house in the 3600-block of Baytree Street was apparently a self-inflicted gunshot wound by the suspect.

Police originally went to the man's apartment to take his guns because he had a protection from abuse order.

"As we were knocking on the door and we had announced that it was Pittsburgh police, that's when we heard the single gunshot from inside the location," Pittsburgh Police Commander RaShall Brackney said.

The SWAT Team was called in and the neighborhood was sealed off for several hours.
