Malkin Participating In Light Skating Sessions

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Despite losing 8-2 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series, there is some good news for the Penguins.

According to the Penguins' website, Evgeni Malkin returned to the ice Thursday at Southpointe.

Malkin suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee during a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 4.

He has been participating in light skating sessions as part of his recovery from the injury.

Malkin is expected to be ready to return when training camp opens for the 2011-12 season.

Before the injury, Malkin had 15 goals and 22 assists in 43 games this season.
