Sharpsburg Fire Leaves 2 Dead

SHARPSBURG (KDKA) - Two people died in a house fire early Saturday morning in Sharpsburg.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that one of the victims is 23-year-old Brittany Aquino.

Matthew Sutton, 24, of Plum, was also killed in the fire.

The investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing, but the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department said it was contained to the third floor.

It started around 1 a.m. and fire crews were able to quickly put it out.

Several of the volunteer firefighters, including the chief, live within walking distance to the house and were able to quickly respond.

KDKA-TV's Heather Abraham has learned that one of the neighbors, also a volunteer, made the 911 call.

Aquino's mother, Belinda, also lives in the home, but was able to get out safely.

Neighbors close to Brittany Aquino said she has two young children, ages 2 and 4, who stay mostly with their father at his home.

The children were not with Brittany when the fire broke out.

Friends also said she was currently in school studying to be a veterinarian.
