State Police Draw Attention To Indiana Co. Cold Case

INDIANA (KDKA) — State police in Indiana County are hoping to draw attention to a 24-year-old cold case.

Alicia Markovich was just 15 years old when she disappeared.

She had gone to visit her father at his home on Dunn Avenue in Burrell Township. She ran off after they had an argument.

“It was reported that this argument stemmed from malicious behavior at school,” State Police Trooper John Matchik said.

State police believe Markovich was the victim of foul play. They don’t have any suspects, but haven’t ruled out any either.

They have followed numerous leads, even determining that a letter her father received a few years back saying she had been dumped in the Conemaugh River was a hoax. Investigators say they have followed leads from Florida to New Hampshire.

Markovich’s family has placed yearly ads in local newspapers pleading for help with this investigation. State police are asking anyone who may know anything to come forward so a grieving family can get closure.

Within the last few weeks, Alicia’s mother gave police some old baby teeth she still had around the house. State police are in the process of using them to create a DNA profile for Alicia that will go into the FBI’s database and be cross-checked with the DNA of all remains found across the country.

God Bless Them All. What a hard situation to deal with to have to wonder what happened to her, and for Alicia wherever she is.

was it the red or blue crayon?

  • Hope for the best

Alicia’s story reminds me of the Tanya Cash situation out of McKeesport PA, she might have went to someone that she knows and changed her appearence and moved on. She might resurface or contact the police when the time is right or when his money runs out.
