Online Photo Draws Ire Of Gun Supporters

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A photo of a cook at Primanti’s has led to online message board postings urging NRA Convention attendees to avoid eating at the restaurant.

“We were completely caught off-guard. Went on the Internet and looked at the pictures and saw the comments and thought, ‘We’ve got to respond to these questions,’” Primanti’s Operations Director Marc Teklinski said.

One of the pictures in question shows a cook at the Strip District Primanti’s wearing a T-shirt furnished by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

It showed up on the pro-gun blog “Snowflakes In Hell” which, in turn, posted it and told attendees at this weekend’s NRA convention to think twice about eating there.

One commenter said, “Ouch, if we get this word out enough, that will hurt!”

The sandwiches are always a Pittsburgh must-have and it was a stop for NRA-endorsed presidential candidate Sen. John McCain in 2008.

Primanti’s said the attention is unexpected, but it wants to get something out to the attendees of the convention and anyone who comes into town in the future: They’re not in the business of pushing agendas, they’re in the business of pushing something else.

“We’re just there to make sandwiches and have fun,” Teklinski said.

I guess no one in the news room thought it would be a good idea to SHOW the freeken online photo?

  2. Jack says:

NOW the NRA is backing illegal guns. All groups have fanatics and the NRA seems to have more than their share. If the NRA is against that t-shirt then I feel sorry for them.

Pitttsburghers unite and show support for Primanti’s

  3. Tim says:

Guns don’t kill people by themselves – it is the idiots that have them and can’t control themselves.

I have never seen one of my guns pull the trigger by itself – enough said!

Some people just need to think about what they are saying.

  4. Crazy people out there says:

I was raised with guns but anymore, pro gun people are just as crazy as PETA. Since as a society we have shown we are irresponsible with guns, take them away. Like a kid who acts up in school, you take away the fun stuff. Time for us to take the guns away for a while. I much more prefer swords and archery, which are owned by REAL men.

    1. Steve says:

Good luck with that! And while you are at it, take your headline, write it on a piece of paper and go to a mirror and read it to your self you may just find your very own crazy person!

  5. Steve says:

Tim I agree 100% Jack I think you are highly mis-informed and really need to do more research. If more people was to own a firearm I really think crime would drop dramatically.

  6. Pete says:

Crazy- how about we punish the evil doers and leave the law abiding citizenry alone? And as for your cutlery issues: only a fool brings a knife to a gun fight.

  7. Grun says:

Boycoll Primanti’s brothers. Let the leftwingers support them. They know exactly what their employees were doing.

  8. Mayor of GBD says:

Crazy – how about you come get you some. I pity the fool who attempts to come take my guns.

  9. Mayor of GBD says:

How many people die everyday from heart disease from eating their fried food and overloaded plaque building sammies like theirs? HYPOCRITES

  10. NRA is PARANOID says:

Puff your chests out you manly men of the NRA . . . that will give everyone else a bigger target !

  11. Mayor of GBD says:

yes, but you “kitties” can’t hit what you’re shooting at, the second shot will be mine…and very accurate.
