Firefighter Checked Over At Scene Of Wiltsie St. Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Crews were called to a house fire early Friday morning in the East End section of Pittsburgh.

According to emergency officials, the fire reportedly started in the basement of a home after 6:30 a.m. on Hartman Lane near Wiltsie Street.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control around 7:30 a.m. but remained on the scene to put out hot spots on the first floor.

Officials say one firefighter was checked over at the scene. So far, there is no word on his condition, but he appears to be okay.

Also, authorities at the scene say one of the residents was taken to a local hospital after suffering some burns on his hands and arms.

Emergency officials say three adults and a dog have been displaced. The Red Cross is helping them out.
