3 Charged In Brookline Marijuana Growing Operation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Three people are facing charges after Pittsburgh police found a marijuana growing operation in Brookline.

Police arrested and charged 25-year-old William Lewis in addition to Dean Chobanian and Rachel Shipley, both 23.

According to investigators, Lewis and Chobanian lived at the home in the 1200-block of Brookline Boulevard. Shipley is from Allison Park.

Narcotics detectives found 42 marijuana plants along with three guns – one of which was stolen – and nearly $1,400 cash.

The three suspects are all facing drug possession and conspiracy charges. Lewis is facing additional charges of possession of steroids and receiving stolen property.

Oh so its ok to be high and sell drugs to kids but god forbid if someone has a gun OMG. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people!!! Think about it!!! I think you are confusing pot with herion. Potheads dont rob and kill to get stoned. In states where bud is legal the state commisions and gives licenses to people to grow so obviously its a horribly dangerous “durg”…think about THAT king.

First off, marijuana is safer than alcohol and cigarettes, both of which are widely available for kids. Secondly it’s prohibition is based on racist propaganda and profit protection, not sane, logical ideas. Look it up. Harry Anslinger…Dupont….i quote “marijuana makes white women sleep with black jazz musicians” – back in the 30s and 40s this propaganda scared white folk who then BLINDLY supported the prohibition as it was associated with racism, mexicans, african americans, etc.

Now that the established base of argument is that weed shouldn’t even be illegal in the first place the actions of police officers are tantamount to kidnapping. And yes, I point and LAUGH my ass off when i hear a cop got what they deserved. They lock up innocent people and ruin their lives on a DAILY basis, and the second there is payback the people INSTANTLY defend police because they are ‘protecting us’…please…they protect their jobs and their bosses’ interests, simple as that. The legislation in this country is all corrupt, therefore the police enforce corrupt legislation.

Lastly – I love it how some stay-at-home mom gets on the computer and rants about how marijuana is this ‘demon weed’ who apparently makes it’s way into childrens hands and corrupts their lives…get out of here. Big pharmaceutical companies sell pills right up the street at CVS…using that same logic, we need to get rid of all CVS’s because they distribute a drug near children. Your logic is flawed. The drug war is a complete and utter failure and a waste of tax money. Doesn’t matter anyway, our deficit can never be paid back as with money creation comes interest, therefore the debt we owe can never be paid back, ever.

Just because they are pretty, young, white kids doesn’t mean they don’t know how to be criminals. I doubt one steals a gun without knowing how to pull a trigger. Three guns in the house? You don’t think they didn’t intend to use them if they felt they had to?

This might not be the most major of crimes, but they still broke the law. Just because they know how to smile nice for the camera doesn’t mean they deserve leniency.

Pot should be legal & the ONE with the stolen gun should be charged with theft or recieving. Thousands of people a day die as a result of alcohol but there has never been ONE case of anyone dying from pot.

I know enough people who have moved on from pot because it wasn’t enough of a high for them…..coke next, then who knows. I know not everyone moves on to a bigger high, but some do, so don’t say it’s harmless. Whoever said that there’s never been a death associated with pot must be living under a rock.

That is actually not true. Interviewing and tracking down the use of pot and moving on to other drugs is less then 3% of those who do it. This has been proven time and time again. Infact, if you research countries that have legalized most drugs, you will find that drug usage declined, over dosing dropped dramatically and the citizens were more productive. I don’t think that all drugs should be legal but when 980 out of 1000 subjects were given marijuana and got relief with health issues, I say it is much more medicinal then a drug. You can get high off cough medicine. I think a natural plant is much safer then a man made substance. NO ONE has EVER died from marijuana usage alone. You can’t overdose on it, yet you can overdose on cough medicine.

After seeing the photo of these young entrepeneurs of fine vice, they picked the wrong crime. Should have pimped the chick out, stayed of the gateway drugs, and not trade weapons for drugs with the very same folks that set you up in the first place. While real crimes and issues are tearing up the streets of Eastern Pittsburgh and Wilkinsburg, we are consumed by the daily fierce crime of being dumb farmers that do not know how to move their product without getting caught by secret detectives and vice squads. If you think that Medical marijuana is legal in several states, and crime on the streets are getting more and more brutal. I think the police may want to adjust their agenda and concentrate on the viiolent criminals. I wonder if any police officers are going to get a promotion on this bust.
