MCKEESPORT (KDKA) — Police say a hit-and-run accident led to a shooting in McKeesport.

A man inside the Ragtime Saloon in Homestead was told someone hit his Jeep. He went out to take a look and saw a red SUV leaving the area.

“[He] proceeds to follow that car, calls 911, was able to give description and license plate concerning that car,” Allegheny county Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said. “He follows the car to McKeesport where ultimately there’s gunfire.”

The shots were fired in the Hi View Garden apartment complex. When it was all over, the man driving the Jeep was shot several times with wounds to his torso and face.

“Through the course of the investigation, we were able to determine the owner of that vehicle,” Schurman said.

The victim drove himself to the McKeesport fire department where he was flown to a local hospital.
