Pedestrian Killed In Penn Hills

PENN HILLS (KDKA) — An elderly pedestrian was killed in the Giant Eagle parking lot in Penn Hills.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as 79-year-old Mary Lee Essiex, from East Liberty.

She was pushing her shopping cart when she was struck by a truck.

It’s not clear at this point if the driver will face any charges.

    These stories are happening every week. How many times does it take for something to be done? Family members need to stop loved ones from driving when they know they are unsafe. The state isn’t taking licenses or retesting so families need to do the right thing.. Also, if this was a teen driver they would have been arrested an taken from the scene. The laws need to change!!! My thoughts an prayers go out to the womans family.
