1 Killed In Washington Co. Crash

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was killed in a Saturday night accident in Washington County.

According to the Washington County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened on State Route 844 in Independence Township at 7:55 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Eric Carder, 38, of Canonsburg.

Carder was traveling east when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck an embankment on the westbound side of the road.

The vehicle rolled and came to rest in the eastbound lanes on its roof.

Carder was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

    Ejected and speed. A very common Western PA occurrence.

    I’d love to know the stats on the number of people ejected from their vehicle while wearing their belt and killed. I bet it’s less than 1/10 of 1%. But I bet the number is near 100% of the people ejected while NOT using their belt are hurt or killed.

    Another needless, preventable death in Western PA. I pity the poor family, but it was his choice in the end.

    Let me tell you something Mr or Ms. ITS THE LAW….. What ever happened about human compashion???? I knew this man he has a son who will not have him in his life an a wife whom she will never see his smile again. If you want to know statictics then ask a police men. Do not 2 days after such a tragic loss be a heartless jerk i am sure some of his family will see this. I am sure you do not follow the LAW everytime. So have a heart!!
