Hurdle Benches McCutchen

By: Mike Vukovcan

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — There’s a new sheriff over at PNC Park and his name is Clint Hurdle.

Late in last night’s game, Andrew McCutchen struck out and the ball got away from Dodgers catcher Rod Barajas. Instead of running to first, McCutchen walked straight back to the dugout.

Today, McCutchen finds himself on the bench for tonight’s game.

Hurdle acknowledged that McCutchen wasn’t playing tonight because of the play in the 8th inning.

I find it very hard to believe that former manager John Russell making a move this this.

Here is the PG’s Colin Dunlap explaining why Andrew McCutchen is benched on Sports Radio 93-7 THe Fan ‘s Seibel, Starkey and Miller.

Cedeno got benched last week for not running out the same type of play so you have to apply the punishment across the board your you’ll have dissension in the clubhouse.

  2. steve says:

WHY IS EVERYONE SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS GUY? HE HAS A BARRY BONDS ATTITUDE AND YET YOU STILL WANT HIM TO LEAD THIS TEAM. MAKE NEIL WALKER THE FRANCHISE PLAYER, CERTAINLY NOT THIS GUY.

  3. ed says:

we would have a better chance of winning with Mccutchen in the lineup. Just another dumb move by Hurdle.

  4. Alan Cutler says:

Awww, c’mon….He’s just a young kid. We all ‘dogged’ it going to first base at some point. It’s a long season. He makes a lot of cash but you can’t expect these healthy guys to run out every at bat right? He could pull a hammy running out a meaningless dropped ball. Then what? Give these hard working Buccos a break for crying out loud! Hey! Bring back Kent Dirdivanis too- We miss him.

  5. Raymond Schrader says:

bull, they are paid to play the game. long season or not. whats good for cedeno is good for mccutchen.
