PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police are investigating after an assault and robbery at a local church.

This happened at Trinity Baptist Church in the 3400-block of Ligonier Street in Lawrenceville.

Dr. J. Earl Garmon, Jr., says he was attacked by a man with a gun who knocked on his officer door Friday afternoon.

When the pastor opened the door, he says the man forced his way inside with the gun, hit him in the face several times and took several thousand dollars.

The pastor recently had a kidney transplant. He was able to walk to the ambulance.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing black shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt.
