Taillon Hit Hard In Loss

By: Mike Vukovcan

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- It was a rough morning for Pirates 2010 #1 pick pitcher Jameson Taillon.

West Virginia was forced to play a double-header today because of last night’s rain out.

Taillon was on the mound and things didn’t go so smoothly.

Coming into this morning’s game, Taillon allowed only 2 earned runs in his last 3 starts.

Today, Lexington collected 7 hits and 3 runs off Taillon in 4 innings. Lexington held West Virginia to only one-hit.

LEXINGTON 4 WEST VIRGINIA 2:
SP Jameson Taillon: 4 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K (2.84 ERA)
RP Brooks Pounders: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB (1.89 ERA)
SS Andrew Maggi: 1-3
1B Matt Curry: 0-2 (.347)
CF Mel Rojas: 0-3

The Pirates have squandered draft after draft. . . They have given away any talented players in their organization for prospects who don’t generally pan out either. It’s time to look at ownership and management with a magnifying glass. I think Hurdle could be the guy, but they need to evaluate every person above him.

This team has been an embarrassment for far too long.
