Bishop Zubik Addresses Child Abuse Study

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- A report analyzing the cause of sex abuse by clergy is stirring up controversy.

The nation's Roman Catholic Bishops commissioned the report by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

It finds that the majority of the abuse occurred by priests who were ordained in the 1940's and 1950s. At that time, priests were not trained properly on how to live a celibate life.
The report also finds that just a small percentage of priests accused of molestation could be technically defined as pedophiles.

Researchers said homosexuality, celibacy and an all-male priesthood did not cause the scandal.

Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik talks with KDKA's Mike Pintek for a local reaction to the story.
