Kolby Gray To Transfer

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- While the Pitt Football program has spent most of the spring bringing in transfers from other schools, it appears they lost one of their own today.

Redshirt Sophomore Defensive Back Kolby Gray has decided to transfer to Baylor. Pitt officials confirmed this late this afternoon.

Gray came to Pitt as one of the top 30 dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation out of Cypress Falls High School in Houston, Texas. Former Defensive Coordinator Phil Bennett recruited Gray to Pitt as a defensive back. That provides a logical connection between Gray and Baylor since Bennett is now the Bears' Defensive Coordinator.

Gray redshirted as a Freshman and battled concussion symptoms this spring. He also is a country songwriter with a great deal of potential to pursue a music career. It's believed that and a desire to move closer to home are the main reasons behind his transfer.

Pitt also announced that reserve tight Dan Schneider is giving up football due to a shoulder injury.
