Robbery Suspect Stuffs Pants In Local Target
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police are trying to identify a man caught on surveillance tape stealing from the Hempfield Target.
The man can be seen stuffing around $40 worth of clothing into his pants. At one point, he even loosens his pants to make a better hiding place.
A loss prevention officer saw it all happening on camera and confronted the man when he tried to leave the store.
That's when the suspect shoved the loss prevention officer and hit him in the face with an open hand.
The loss prevention officer was not seriously hurt, but also wasn't able to get a look at the suspect's vehicle. He may have been traveling on foot.
State police say the scuffle on the way out turned a retail theft into a felony robbery. They are hoping the video will be a deterrent for potential retail thieves.
If you have information about the robbery, you are asked to contact state police in Greensburg.
