Police Investigate After Brine Is Drained From Tank At Gas Well Site

SOUTH HUNTINGTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police are investigating after someone drained hundreds of gallons of brine, or saltwater, from a tank at a gas well site in Westmoreland County.

The incident happened off of Boyscout Camp Road in South Huntingdon Township sometime between May 11 and 18.

According to state police, 2,600 gallons of the brine was drained to the ground when the valve to the 4,200 gallon tank was removed.

Investigators estimate the cost of clean up following the incident to be $10,000.
