ERIE, Pa. (KDKA/AP) – The body of a baby was found in a suitcase on a street in Erie Tuesday afternoon.

According to an Associated Press report, firefighters discovered the baby while responding to an unrelated fire.

The suitcase was wrapped in a blanket and firefighters were drawn to it because of a strong odor.

According to CBS Affiliate WSEE in Erie, the child has been identified as 14-month-old Alayja Coleman .

The child’s mother, 20-year-old  Tania Coleman, has been arrested in connection with her death.  She is now being lodged in the Erie County Jail on $15,000 bond.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
