Anthony Rendon/MLB Draft News

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The health of Rice's Anthony Rendon is a popular topic as the 2011 MLB Draft approaches. For the first time since March 25, Rendon played the field, but it wasn't at his customary third base.

Rendon played second base for two games on Thursday and Friday at the Conference USA tournament in Pearl, Miss.

A shoulder injury, which isn't considered serious, has limited Rendon to DH duty this season.

Rendon is the top overall prospect according to Baseball America's draft rankings.

Rendon is 3-for-6 in the two games and hit his sixth home run of the season Thursday. He also set Rice's new single-season walks record with 78.

Some major league executives are now thinking that Rendon will be a second baseman in the majors.

The 2011 MLB Draft begins on June 6th and the Pirates own the 1st pick.
