Sidney Crosby Concussion Update

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Pens GM Ray Shero has an update on Pens captain Sidney Crosby and names 2 free agents that won't be returning to the Penguins next season.

Shero tells Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Crosby is expected to be re-evaluated by concussion specialist Michael Collins in the next week or so.

Crosby is back in Pittsburgh after having been on vacation in Europe.

Crosby needs full clearance from a doctor before he's permitted to begin his offseason workout program.

Shero also told Anderson that forwards Alexei Kovalev and Mike Comrie won't be returning to the Penguins next season.

Shero said it's possible that Comrie might retire.

As far as the other free agents, "We're not close to anything with anybody at this point", Shero said.

Pens unrestricted free agents include: Max Talbot, Pascal Dupuis, Mike Rupp, Craig Adams, Arron Asham, Eric Godard, Chris Conner and Nick Johnson. Winger Tyler Kennedy is the teams biggest restricted free agent.

NHL free agency begins on July 1st.
