Pittsburgh (KDKA)- It appears as though someone has offered Jaromir Jagr a contract but it wasn’t the Pittsburgh Penguins.

According to a report from the Czech Republic, SKA St. Petersburg has offered Jagr a one-year deal worth $4.5 million.

No word yet from the Jagr camp as to whether he’s going to accept this offer.

Jagr has been surprised that hasn’t received any offers from his former team, Avangard Omsk.

Following the 2011 World Championships, rumors spread that Jagr was interested in returning to the NHL.

The Penguins and Montreal Canadians were the two teams linked to Jagr.

In the end, Jagr was likely using the NHL as a negotiating ploy to receive more money from Russian clubs.

What a misleading headline. Shame, KDKA.

Who cares? The Pens are fine the way they are.

    • Ryan S.

Yes, fine the way they are, if you happen to like mediocrity.

    • Kevin Haber

remember the winter classic. Power Play sucked with Croz and Evgeni,

Evgeni Malkin could use a good RW to play with. I hope Jagr wants to come and does.

Make him an offer Ray Shero!

  • DJ

What exactly was mediocre about the Pens this year, Ryan?

    • Ryan S.

Maybe the fact that they were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, (and yes I ‘m aware that they were missing their two best players) to me, is mediocre. Players get hurt throughout a season and you have to have depth to compensate for this, the Pens lack depth and therefore are a mediocre team.

      • DJ

Or did they just lose to a team that got hot and almost made it to the Stanley Cup finals, coupled with the fact that they were missing their two best players. Give Tampa some credit instead of putting all of the blame on Pittsburgh’s “lack of depth”. It’s not a lack of depth when not one team in the league could recover what the Pens went through this year.

      • Kevin Haber

I agree. Can not score one goal on 6 power plays in game 7 at home.

        Even when geno comes back…
Sign Jagr! We been looking for a RW to play with Malkin for 3 years.

What a misleading headline. Shame, KDKA.

  • R U. Morr

The report is now that Jagr is going to sign with Penguins – 1 year contract with an option for another year.

    • deathmetalhippy

If you are correct. I love you.

  • Kevin Haber

misleading headline. Penguins need a RW to compliment the centers. Signing Jagr to one year and an opton makes perfect sense.
