Route 88 To Reopen This Week

EAST BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A road that was closed due to a landslide in Washington County earlier this month, is set to reopen this week.

According to PennDOT, the northbound lanes of Route 88 in East Bethlehem Township will reopen on Friday by the end of the business day.

A detour has been set up in the area that takes motorists on Route 2063 (Beallsville Road/Ridgewood Drive) to Route 2041 (Maiden St.) to Route 40 to Route 2026 (Ridge Road) back to Route 88.

PennDOT officials believe all the rain this spring was a major factor in causing the hillside to give way.
