Pirates’ Meek Discusses Comeback Win
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pirates pitcher Evan Meek joined 93.7 The Fan’s Chris Mueller after the team’s comeback victory over the Mets Tuesday night. Meek talked about picking up the first win at Citi Field in franchise history in relief of James McDonald.
Evan tells Chris how much he feels his health has improved since going on the DL early this season. He also talks about the vastly different compete level of this Pirate team, which exploded for five runs after being shut out by an impressive-looking R.A. Dickey through seven innings.
He also lets Chris in on the mindset of the Pirates’ pitching staff, which continues to perform well above expectations. Needless to say, he’s thrilled for Indianapolis call-up Josh Harrison, who collected his first big-league hit and RBI in the win.
Tuesday marked Meek’s first win of 2011 and first since Sept. 17, 2010. The Pirates (25-28) and Mets play game three of their four-game set in New York Wednesday at 7:10 p.m.
