Poplawski Trial To Begin This Month

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man accused of killing three Pittsburgh police officers in Stanton Heights two years ago will soon stand trial.

Richard Poplawski is awaiting trial in connection with the deaths of Officers Eric Kelly, Paul Sciullo II and Stephen Mayhle. They were killed while responding to a domestic call back in April of 2009.

On Friday, it was announced that jury selection will begin next week in Harrisburg. Jurors will be bused to Pittsburgh on June 19 and the trial will begin on June 20.

Meantime, the judge has ruled that jurors will not see a 41-page report containing online rants by Poplawski.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
