NORTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Authorities in Westmoreland County say an elderly man who went missing Saturday afternoon was found after a vehicle crash in a wooded area.

According to the North Huntingdon Township Police Department, 81-year-old William Peoples was found in his station wagon in a wooded area near his home after the crash.

He did not suffer any major injuries in the accident.

Police say Peoples, who has dementia and is also inhibited by a language barrier, went missing around 2 p.m. Saturday.

North Huntingdon police are crediting the “A Child Is Missing” alert system with helping to locate Peoples. Officials say they received tips and information because of the system.
