Hempfield High School Graduation Moves Indoors

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The graduation at Hempfield High School is being moved indoors because of damage from the tornado that has yet to be repaired.

When the tornado moved through in March, it caused extensive damage to the school's auditorium and stadium.

Graduation is typically held in the stadium, but school officials decided to move it indoors for safety reasons.

They say lighting fixtures and restroom facilities in the stadium have not been adequately repaired to handle the large crowd that attends graduation.

Graduation will now be held in the field house. The overflow will be able to watch on television monitors in the auditorium.

The ceremony begins at 7 p.m.
