Pennsylvania Resources Council Promotes Recycling At Arts Festival

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - There's a lot of new things to do and see at this year's Three Rivers Arts Festival and the Pennsylvania Resources Council or the PRC has stepped up its recycling efforts.

Not even the rain and wind can stop the Green Team as they set up recycling stations at Point State Park.

This is the third year that Dave Mazza and the PRC have partnered with The Three Rivers Arts Festival.

Mazza says that you can have an event like this and it can still be environmentally-friendly as well.  There are seven recycling stations set up for the Arts Fest and five of them are set up near the food tents in Point State Park.

The PRC has introduced the Water Monster this year, which provides cups made of corn starch and potato starch instead of using plastic bottles.

The cups can return to the Earth as compost and the water is free.  These recycling stations last year have prevented about 83 percent of trash from ending up in landfills.
