PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — For four weeks this summer, Hollywood is coming to Pittsburgh for the filming of the new “Batman” movie.

Crews are already in town and filming will roll starting on July 28, but there are ways you can be a part of the Warner-Brothers movie.

Starting this weekend, the casting of extras for the final movie in “The Dark Knight” series begins. The four weeks of filming starts next month.

“It’s a huge film. It’s a franchise everyone knows – as opposed to, we have two other films shooting – but we really don’t know those movies,” said Dawn Keezer, of the Pittsburgh Film Office. “Everyone can identify with ‘Dark Knight’ [because] they have seen the other ones.”

Keezer says no experience necessary.

“You have to be 18 and you gotta show up,” she said. “It’s this Saturday and Sunday from 9 until 5, and then 10 until 5 on Sunday. All the information is on my website, PghFilm.org. You need a picture ID to prove who you are; then, fill out a form – how tall you are, how much you weigh. We need thousands of extras for this film here so there’s lots of opportunity for everyone to be a part of it.”

With a film of this magnitude, Keezer’s phone has been ringing.

“There’s lots of fans. I’m getting calls from all over the world from people wanting to know when they can come and be an extra,” she said. “They want to know when it’s filming, so it’s getting us international attention and it’s an opportunity for all of Pittsburgh to shine.”

Apply, and chances are good you’ll be an extra when the cameras roll in your hometown.

“We are in the top 10 cities in the country right now for film production, so everyone should have their chest puffed up and be proud to be from Pittsburgh,” said Keezer. “Especially this summer when there are minor road closures and detour routes, just think how great this is. It’s gonna be fun. It’s a short period of time.”

One thing is for certain, you’ll never make the silver screen in “Dark Knight Rises” if you don’t show up this weekend.

Here’s the information:

  • Omni William Penn Hotel
  • Downstairs in the William Penn Ballroom
  • Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Don’t forget to bring a photo ID
  • You must be 18 or older
