Construction Continues On Local Roads This Weekend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh residents should add in some extra travel time to local destinations this weekend. There will be numerous road closures and restrictions this weekend as road construction season continues.

There will be intermittent, short-term closures on the inbound side of the Fort Pitt Bridge from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday due to overhead sign inspections.

Also, the Liberty Tunnel will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Traffic traveling southbound on I-79 between Robinson and Kennedy townships will be reduced to a single lane starting 7 p.m. tonight. In addition, the ramp from Route 51 to northbound I-79 will be closed for concrete patching.

There will be single lane traffic in both directions on Crosstown Boulevard between the Liberty Bridge and Forbes Avenue beginning tonight at 11 p.m. and lasting the remainder of the weekend for overhead ramp painting.

In North Fayette, westbound Route 22/30 will be closed at the Kelso Road overpass/Noblestown Interchange from this morning through noon Saturday so crews can install drainage across the road.

Also, guide rail repairs will continue Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon in several locations on the Parkway East, Parkway North and I-79. So, drivers can expect some intermittent, short-term single lane and shoulder closures.

Drivers should use caution when traveling through these areas and report any problems to PennDOT.
