Ohio Man Dead After Motorcycle Crash In Mercer County

GREENE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- An Ohio man was killed early Friday morning when authorities say his motorcycle crashed into a billboard post in Mercer County.

The accident happened between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday on State Route 58 at the intersection of Tower Road in Greene Township.

According to our news partners with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, officials have identified the motorcyclist as 48-year-old Scott Barnes, of Conneaut, Ohio.

State police say the motorcycle was headed east on State Route 58 when Barnes missed a curve in the road, and the vehicle traveled about 180 feet off the road before hitting the wooden billboard post.

Officials say the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene just after 6:30 a.m.

The motorcycle was severely damaged in the crash.
