Thousands Show Up For "Batman" Casting Call

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Thousands of people with hopes of making it onto the big screen showed up in downtown Pittsburgh Saturday for a casting call for the new "Batman" movie.

"The Dark Knight Rises" will be filming late next month right here in Pittsburgh. The cast and crew will be in town for several weeks.

The casting of extras got underway today for the final movie in "The Dark Knight" film series.

Hopefuls packed into the Omni William Penn Hotel for the chance to be part of the world-famous film series.

The Warner Bros. film needs extras to play victims and perpetrators.

Casting agents said they were expecting about 5,000 people to show up today.

"We're looking for all types, 18 and older. We especially need men, military types, police types, prisoners. We also need sports fans of all types," said Nancy Mosser, of Nancy Mosser Casting. "We need thousands of people so this is really great today."

If you missed Saturday's casting call, you're in luck. They're holding another one Sunday and next weekend, too. For more information on dates and times, click here.

Filming begins July 28th.
