Former State Rep. Frank LaGrotta Sentenced

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) - For the second time in a week, former State Rep. Frank LaGrotta was in court for sentencing.

LaGrotta's sentencing hearing was cut short on Monday when he became dizzy and nearly fainted.

He was taken out of the courtroom on a stretcher, but his attorney said he was in better health today.

"He seems to be much better today. He looked much better, thinking more clearly. Monday was a very difficult day for him and his family," Stephen Colafella said. "The day that we've had in between was good for him. It enabled him to absorb what happened on Monday and try to look forward."

LaGrotta pleaded guilty to prescription drug fraud in April and will spend three to 12 months in jail.

However, his attorney said LaGrotta will try to take part in the work release program during his incarceration.
