US Airways Captain Smells Smoke On Flight To Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Firefighters and paramedics met a US Airways flight in Pittsburgh after the captain smelled smoke in the flight deck.

The plane departed from Phoenix around 12:30 p.m. and landed in Pittsburgh shortly after 7 p. m. Wednesday.

The captain smelled the smoke about eight miles away from Pittsburgh.

The plane landed without incident and the 105 passengers exited the plane in normal fashion, according to a US Airways spokesperson.

The flight captain was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
