Masseur Facing Indecent Assault Charges

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Ross Township police say they have taken a 58-year-old former masseur into custody after he failed to show up at a court hearing in front of a district magistrate on Wednesday.

According to officials with the Ross Township Police Department, Xin Zhang was arrested just after 9 a.m. Officials say he showed up this morning at District Richard Opiela's Office in West View.

He will await arraignment at the Allegheny County Jail.

Zhang is facing one count of indecent assault.

Investigators say Zhang is accused of allegedly touching a woman inappropriately while giving her a massage last month at the Comfort Zone, a kiosk in Ross Park Mall.

He was charged and taken to jail after the alleged incident, but was released on bond. He was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, but failed to show up. A warrant was then issued.

Officials at Ross Park Mall have issued this statement: "Our primary concern is always for the safety and well-being of our shoppers and mall employees. Upon learning of this complaint, the owner of the service was contacted, and the employee was immediately terminated."

Meanwhile, police say they haven't had any other complaints about the business.

"It seems to us based on the reports that we, the other crimes that we have investigated, that there hasn't been anything else involving this particular comfort zone massage services or any of its employees," said Detective Brian Kohlhepp, of the Ross Township Police.
