Pirates Move Morris To Bullpen

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- When the Pirates acquired Bryan Morris, they envisioned him being a starter at the top of the rotation.

That idea is on hold because the team has moved Morris to the Altoona Curve bullpen.

Morris is the second starting pitcher (Tim Alderson)that the organization has switched from starter to reliever in the last couple of seasons.

This year has been a struggle for Morris as he's battled injuries and performance (6.04 ERA in 25.1 innings).

This is what Kyle Starks, the Pirates Director of Player Development, told Pirate Prospects.com about the move, "Bryan Morris will pitch out of the bullpen for now. We feel like the best thing for his development is to get reps off the slope in games more often than more reps once every fifth day."

Morris started the season as one of the Top 10 prospects in the organization.

With Morris being moved to the bullpen, here's the current rotation for the Curve: Jeff Locke, Aaron Pribanic, Kyle McPherson, Michael Colla and Phillip Irwin.

Morris, Jared Hughes or Aaron Thompson could be moved to the rotation if a promotion or an injury occurs.
