Pirates Sign 3 Draft Picks

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pittsburgh Pirates signed the following three players from this year's draft.

Alex Fuselier (21st round - OF): Led the Sun Belt Conference with 12 stolen bases in conference games and finished the 2011 season as the team leader with fourteen…Raised his batting average for the third straight season in 2011, hitting .245 as a freshman, .295 as a sophomore and .308 as a junior.

Mike Jefferson (22nd round - LHP): Went 6-4 with a 3.56 ERA (86.0ip/34er) and 70 strikeouts in 18 appearances (14 starts) as a junior at Louisiana Tech…Went 13-11 with one save and a 4.93 ERA and 178 strikeouts in 62 appearances (30 starts) in three-year career at Louisiana Tech…

Chris Lashmet (33rd round - INF): Was a four-year starter at Northwestern…Ended his career ranked second in school history with 49 doubles, fourth with 238 hits, fifth in total bases (355) and 10th in home runs (20)…Led the Wildcats in 2011 with a .353 average, 16 doubles and 67 hits while being named a second-team All-Big Ten selection at third base…Posted a .320 career average in 198 games (196 starts) in four-year career with Northwestern.

The Pirates have now signed 10 players from this year's Draft.
