Crews Battle Massive New Castle Fire

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – Firefighters were called to a massive fire in New Castle Tuesday night.

According to emergency dispatchers, the fire broke out at the old Shenango China Plant near the intersection of Grant and Sampson Streets shortly before 6 p.m.

The building was vacant and there are no reported injuries.

Five fire companies were still battling the blaze at 9 p.m. and did not have it under control.

Heavy black smoke could be seen billowing into the air.

There is no word about what started the fire at this time.
