Man Shoots At Raccoon, Nearly Hits 13-Year-Old Boy

BELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Two bullets nearly struck a 13-year-old Westmoreland County boy as he slept on his grandfather's couch.

A man was in the woods nearby taking aim at what he thought was a raccoon. However, the shots he fired went straight through his neighbor's house.

The bullet holes remain in the back of Edwin Rowe's home on Orr Drive in Bell Township.

The shots went straight through Rowe's living room and narrowly missed his 13-year-old grandson, who was sleeping on the couch.

Glenda Keck said police officers came to her house late that night to ask questions and they eventually found the shooter.

A 40-year-old man living in the neighborhood told police he was shooting at a rabid skunk. He didn't realize the neighbor's home was in the distance.

Neighbors said Rowe is out of town and police are not identifying the person who fired the shots.

Pennsylvania State Police said the victim declined prosecution and the suspect will pay for damage to the trailer.
